CGCC Curiosity Hacked

Guild 24 - Oak Park

Curiosity Hacked is a national nonprofit organization that focuses on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) education, skill building and community engagement with the aspiration to help children develop skills in the areas they are truly interested in, abilities that would allow them to dream big and create big. Curiosity Hacked has guilds located around the country. CGCC is happy to include Guild 24 - Oak Park as part our community.

Elaine Luther and Aaron Wilson-Alstrum are our organizing volunteers along with a teen helper. Each family takes a turn in running a meeting with Elaine providing support and guidance to help choose an activity and to find resources. Past activities have included learning to program with Arduino, soldering electronic kits, and completing design/build challenges. Participants can earn badges from and Some badges we will be working on this year: animator, printmaker and more.

When:  3:00 - 5:00, Saturdays, generally the 2nd Saturday of the month; September - May; first meeting is September 24
Meeting dates: September 24, October 15, November 19, December 3, January 8, February 11, March 11, April 8, May 6

Location:  exact locations TBA, will likely include Oak Park area libraries and possibly a location in River Grove, IL

Who:  Kids, ages 7-12

Fee: CGCC Members $120, additional member siblings $100 each

         Non-members $145, additional non-member siblings $125 each

Registration fee includes the purchase of badges, materials, supplies and a T-shirt. There may be additional fees for extra fields trips or a soldering kit, but we try to keep this to a minimum.
