Frequently Asked Questions

If your question is not answered here, please ask us directly: email

I know little about Climate Science, am I qualified to coach a group?

Yes, of course you are. The coach's role is to help the kids get organized, pick a topic, choose a presentation approach, structure their research, find resources, etc.  Not to teach climate science.

My child wants to participate, how do I convince her school to take part?

Please send them a link to our Kids Climate Summit pages and invite them to join in! However,  groups can be formed outside of the formal school setting. Coach's may be teachers, or parents, or other interested community members. Teams may be from the same school, the same neighborhood, the same club, or have an interest in common that brings them together. So if your child's school is  not  participating, find another group that is or create one!

The Chicago Gifted Community Center is sponsoring this summit, does that mean that this is only for gifted kids?

We at CGCC try to sponsor programs that are of interest to gifted children and their families, but they are open to all children who are interested in participating.

How much does it cost to participate?

We are seeking sponsors to cover the costs of the summit. Our plan is to have participation in the summit be free.

How do I contact you if I have questions?
