    Even though our topic has not been determined you can still sign up for this event to hold your place.

    We aspire to welcome everyone and safely address gifted topics that are accessible and relevant to busy parents.  Join us to listen, participate, collect resources, share ideas and create community that supports and understands gifted parenting. Topic suggestions welcome and will change each session, and resources may be provided to inform and fuel the conversation.  It's OK if you don't have time to read resources, just join us for inspiring conversation with other gifted parents and Katherine Peterson, parent, CGCC Board Member / Facilitator.   Other CGCC Board Members including Carole Jones, CGCC President, and Aileen Kelleher, LCSW, CGCC Board Member and Professional Member, and Esther Tarkieltaub, Professional Member will join as they are able. Please feel free to reach out to Katherine Peterson, CGCC Board Member & Parent Discussion Facilitator with questions, ideas or to share your comments.  

    Please note:  Due to the popularity of these discussions there is a $5 charge for non-members.  Consider joining as a member for a $25 annual fee to attend all member events for FREE, or please ask for a sliding scale.  We are open to all requests.

    We cap this group at 10 participants, so please sign up to save your place, and cancel if you're unable to attend so others on the waiting list may enjoy this offering.

    Midwest Academy for Gifted Education and the Chicago Gifted Community Center are excited to bring you a Free Gifted Parenting Education Series in its 6th season. We will provide this both virtually and in-person. The format of each event in the series is a 30 minute presentation on the topic, followed by 15-30 minutes of questions from the audience and a 15-30 minutes mingle. 

    Gifted 105: Girls 

    I got a call from the teacher about my daughter... I wish my daughter could do what my son does... she's just smart.... right? My daughter won't do anything academic, everything is too easy but she won't apply herself. My daughter has big feelings. My daughter is not like my friends' kids. My daughter is not like her classmates. Who are the gifted girls? What are their traits and characteristics, and how do I raise them?

    No refunds unless workshop is cancelled. Fee waivers available. Contact us for details.

    Gatherings take place at the Downers Grove location of Fair Game, 1015 Curtiss Street. Geared for ages 8-16 and younger siblings. All levels are welcome, whether you are a cubing aficionado or just getting started.

    There is a charge of $2.50 for each attendee, adults and children, payable on site to Fair Game. This ensures that there is space for our group. Fee waivers are available, please contact us if needed.

    We usually meet on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Registration required. Please register for each date separately. Space is limited. 

    Please note: This is not a drop off event. A parent/caregiver must stay on site and is welcome to join in the fun.

    Gifted 265: 2e and Generational Trauma 

    What happens if your child is gifted and you just found out and because you didn't know this or didn't get the help you need, there's now trauma? What if you are finding out that you are also gifted or 2e just now as a grown up, and you are hurting? Now you have to understand your own story through a different lens, and the story of those that came before you? How do you survive generational trauma and overcome this adversity and help yourself and your child?
