CGCC Curiosity Hacked Meet & Greet #2

  • August 12, 2017
  • 1:30 PM
  • Sand Ridge Nature Center, South Holland

We are gearing up for another season of our popular Curiosity Hacked. Ready to meet old friends, meet our leader, or just wondering if Curiosity Hacked would something of interest for your children? If so, bring your children to one (or both!) of our August Meet & Greet events. Our first Meet & Greet will be on August 3.

For the second event will meet at the Sand Ridge nature Center for the "Everyday Scientist" event. Your observations of plants and animals anywhere and anytime can change the world. Learn how you can help collect information used by scientists to better understand our planet and save species. Click here for complete details for their event.

Please register here on our CGCC site ALSO  so we know to look out for you!

What is Curiosity Hacked?

Curiosity Hacked is a group for girls and boys ages 8-12 who are interested in building stuff and designing and who enjoy science. Volunteer leader, Elaine Luther, and additional parents, provide programming in the form of design-build challenges and other activities.  We hope to form partnerships this year with outside experts who will provide some of the programming.

Meetings are held once or twice a month on Saturday afternoons, 3 pm to 5 pm, generally in the Oak Park area, though there will be a few field trips further afield.

For the 2017-2018 academic year, the focus will be on environmental science, specifically learning about specific insects or animals in our area and in some cases building a supportive habitat for them, such as a bat house or a solitary bee house.  We may also participate in some citizen science while learning about urban wildlife.

Registration for Curiosity Hacked for the 2017-2018 academic year will take place at the end of the summer.
