Family Day: Visions of Cuba

Smart Museum of Art, 5550 S. Greenwood Avenue

With Guest Artist Edra Soto

Family Days at the Smart Museum are designed to celebrate the creative potential in all of us. With new projects every month, Family Days offer opportunities for kids and their caregivers to create together and connect with one another. Each program is unique, fun, and free, emphasizing invention, improvisation, and hands-on creativity.

This Saturday, join artist Edra Soto as we "visit Cuba" through hands-on art-making. Cast handmade clay shells and decorate found bottles based on the beaches of Havana. Then, see the streets and people of Cuba through an artist's eyes by using some of Edra Soto's photographs to make your own "Cuba-scope" telescopes.

The activities are inspired by the artist’s work featured in Cross Currents / Intercambio Cultural.

FREE, open to all.

Art-making supplies and other materials are provided. Family programs are best for kids 4–12, but all ages are welcomed! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
