National Day On Writing

Sunday, October 20 is the National Day On Writing, an initiative of the National Council of Teachers of English, built on the premise that writing is critical to literacy but needs greater attention and celebration.

We couldn't agree more, which is why we're thrilled to offer FREE ADMISSION all day long this Sunday. We'll have extra typewriters available to use and our exhibits are full of writing inspiration. So come on over and celebrate writing with us!

Can't join us in person on Sunday? No worries! You can virtually join the fun by sharing stories and notes on social media about why you write. Plus, if you tag us on social media and use #WhyIWrite you'll be entered to win a membership to the AWM.
