To continue celebrating its 130th anniversary, the MWRD will be "taking the show on the road" to give the public an opportunity to learn more about the MWRD and meet commissioners and staff.
Engineers will be on hand to explain local and regional stormwater management projects; Calumet Water Reclamation Plant staff will be available to explain how they treat 354 million gallons/day; and Human Resources staff will discuss MWRD positions, upcoming examinations and how to apply for jobs. Business owners are also encouraged to attend to learn how to engage with the MWRD on future work opportunities.
There will be activities just for kids too - an environmental chemist will show how water quality samples are examined and an Information Technology Department project will educate and entertain all ages. In addition, participants will have a chance to win a free rain barrel.
