Twice Exceptional Children's Advocacy (TECA) Online Support Group

Led by TECA President Melissa Sornik, LCSW and co-facilitated by TECA Executive Director Maratea Cantarella, this topic-driven group offers family members the chance to learn and share strategies for parenting our uniquely gifted 2e kids. This group is open to parents and guardians of all twice exceptional children and teens. You must pre-register for this event.

Topic: Stress, Transitions and the Holidays

For most 2e kids, any kind of transition can be a challenge. But as the days get shorter and we approach the holidays and year’s end, many 2e children have an especially difficult time. From dealing with changes in routines and anticipating the upcoming holiday schedule to coping with the excitement and stress related to parties, seeing extended families and travel, our kids can get totally overwhelmed. During this session, we will explore the ways in which December can be difficult for you and your child, and discuss strategies for helping you both get through this hectic month.
