Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at our annual family-friendly event. Special activities and performances, along with storytelling and crafts for kids, reflect Dr. King’s messages of peace and justice. This event is FREE with Museum admission, which is complimentary for Illinois residents on this day. No reservations are needed. We look forward to seeing you!

Storytelling for Kids
30-minute performance by storyteller Gwen Hilary and musician Enoch Williamson

The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights
Produced by Writers Theatre
45-minute performance followed by post show discussion
Recommended for 6th grade and up

Precious Lord: A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
45-minute performance by the Chicago Chamber Choir
Recommended for 3rd grade and up; all ages welcome

“I Have a Dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr.

Please note: All event details are subject to change. Seating for performances is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Museum doors open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m. Due to special programming, The Great Chicago Adventure film will not run today. Thank you for understanding!
