Logan Center Family Saturdays: Family Carnival

It’s CARNIVALl! Join the rest of the world to move and make in celebration of life, love, culture, and freedom.

FREE! Registration is recommended. All workshops are first come, first served.

Arts and Crafts with Live Arts Studio

2–4pm / DoVA Hall / All Ages

Create colorful and fun carnival themed crafts with your loved ones.

Brazilian Samba Workshop with Yaasha Abraham of Brazilian Carnival

2–3pm / Room 603 / Ages 7 and up

Enjoy rhythmic high tempo foot work with Yaasha Abraham, exploring the wonder and beauty that is Brazilian Samba.

Brazilian Samba Music/Drum Lesson with Idris Daniel

2–3pm / Room 802 / Ages 7 and up

Enjoy this hands on polyrhythmic experience led by Idris Daniel where families will be given an introduction to the language of music and also learn a beginners samba rhythm.

Trinidad Steel Drum Performance by West Point School of Music

3–4pm / Room 901 / All Ages

Enjoy a traditional Steel Drum Performance by the extraordinary West Point School of Music. Learn about the history of Trinidad Carnival and pretend to be taken away to the Caribbean Islands for the afternoon.

Short Films with South Side Projections

3–4pm / Room 201 / Ages 5 and up

Explore a selection of Carnival themed short films

About Logan Center Family Saturdays:

Explore your child's artistic curiosity with hands-on art workshops designed to stimulate creativity and play. Workshops designed around engaging themes are led by local artists, art organizations, and UChicago students.

These interdisciplinary workshops are exciting for the entire family, offering activities from music to arts and crafts for youth ages 2-12. Bring friends and come learn something new!
