Join us for a Facebook live event with Resident Scholar, Dr. Katherine Kelaidis and special guest, Dr. Eirini Afentouluidou.

"Childbirth and Faith in Byzaantium:

Prayer Books and Amulets"

 Dr. Eirini Afentouluidou is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Byzantine Division at the Austrian Academy of Sciences' Institute for Medieval Research.  Her research focuses on the prayers surrounding childbirth in the Middle Byzanrine Period.  She will share her insights about what these prayers tell us about pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood in the Byzantine Empire.
