Drawing in the (virtual) museum

Tuesday, May 12, 3 p.m. CST
Thursday, May 14, 3 p.m. CST
Live on Zoom
Registration is required. Ages 5 and up.

Take a virtual tour of the Oriental Institute Museum with a sketchbook and pencil! In this two-part drawing workshop, we’ll try out drawing warm-up techniques, practice looking closely at art, and develop skills while drawing artifacts and scenes from the virtual OI and our own homes. No drawing experience is necessary, and all levels are welcome. Bring something to draw with and draw on!

You can participate in one or both Zoom workshops.

Part 1: Egypt and Nubia
Tuesday, May 12, 3 p.m. CST

Travel up the Nile in a virtual drawing exploration of Egypt and Nubia. Take a close look at the iconic art of these ancient civilizations and get ancient-inspired drawing prompts for drawing from life.

Part 2: Mesopotamia and Assyria
Thursday, May 14, 3 p.m. CST

Take a virtual visit to the Fertile Crescent and sketch towering monuments and small but mighty figurines. Then, bring ancient style and inspiration into sketches from life at home.

We will send you the Zoom link once registered. The link is good for any child or adult in your home. Register here.
Space is limited!
