A City at War: Chicago

Virtual documentary screening and conversation with the film’s Executive Producer, John Davies on the 75th Anniversary of VE Day

In honor of the 75th anniversary of VE Day on May 8, discover how Chicago became a production machine during WWII with a special virtual screening of A City at War: Chicago. Following the screening, Naper Settlement will host a conversation with the film’s Executive Producer, John Davies.

When America entered WWII, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) called on the country to become "an arsenal of democracy" and produce war materials to help defeat the Axis powers. This film explores how a mutually beneficial relationship between FDR and Chicago’s powerful Democratic Mayor Ed Kelly helped to win the war.

Price: Free

This program will be hosted on Zoom. Registrants will receive a Zoom invitation with information on how to access the virtual screening prior to the event. There are only 100 spots available. Donations to the Naperville Heritage Society are always welcom.
