Video Webinar: Science How - DNA Barcoding with Dr. Sarah Luttrell

The Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History is moving their popular webcast series to video webinars to connect your learners to natural history science and careers more often. Join these live, interactive, free programs to explore different science concepts through the lens of Smithsonian scientists. Programs are FREE and designed for elementary school students.

Join DNA specialists Sarah Luttrell and Faridah Dahlan to learn how scientists work through the Smithsonian’s Laboratories of Analytical Biology (LAB) to use “DNA barcoding” for species identification.  Follow along as Sarah describes the basics of DNA barcoding and how this unique marker has changed the way basic species identifications are conducted in the daily duties in the Feather Identification Lab to help improve aviation safety.
