Double SENGinar Town Hall Sessions with The Consortium for Underrepresented Racial Groups In Gifted Education
Town Hall Meeting #1: From Courageous Conversations to Courageous Actions July 21, 2020 6:00 PM
Courageous Conversations™ (Singleton, 1992) about racism promote equity and excellence across all settings. The purpose is to uncover personal and institutional biases that prevent all people, and especially Black people, from reaching their fullest potential.
In this dynamic and robust session, the Black scholars on this panel will offer personal and professional testimonies of lived experiences and strategic initiatives in their commitment to foster equity in gifted education.
Town Hall Meeting #2: Unpacking the Lived Experiences of Gifted Black Scholars in America Today July 23, 2020 6:00 PM
The panelists present both quantitative and phenomenological data on the extensive underrepresentation of Black students in gifted education. Each will share personal and professional experiences as Black scholars, administrators, teachers, and parents committed to racial equity and accountability in gifted and advanced programs.
An equity formula will be shared with attention to The Bill of Rights for Gifted Students of Color (Ford et al., 2018) to support equity, diversity, and inclusion
