The Imperial Screen: Hidden Meanings, Rhymes and Wordplay

The newly restored Imperial Screen was produced as a gift in 1791 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. Decorative motifs observed on this magnificent screen are linked to rhyming words and homonyms, common in the Chinese language. Dr. Richard Pegg will reveal many motifs that help us understand the screen's symbols and meanings. Prices vary.
