Online - CAC: Chicago Women Activists

  • September 02, 2020
  • 7:00 PM
  • Zoom, Chicago Architecture Center (CAC)

Hear the stories of Chicago women activists and learn what reforms they led, particularly on Chicago’s Near South Side, during this virtual program led by Chicago Architecture Center docent Ellen Shubart.

Chicago’s 19th century history typically focuses on—and has been told by—middle- and upper-class white men credited with building businesses that fueled the city’s rapid growth. Less well-known and recognized are the women who helped build Chicago, whether alongside these men or, more often, independently. Some aimed to advance civic and social reforms, others advocated for more livable housing, and many worked to secure the right to vote.

The event is free for CAC members and $8 for the public, plus a $3 convenience fee.  For more details and registration, please see here
