A New View of the Universe

For over 400 years we have used telescopes to view and study the universe at virtually all wavelengths of light. But now we have an entirely new way to see the universe: gravitational waves. First predicted by Albert Einstein, gravity waves were thought too weak to actually detect – until now. With the invention of the Laser Interferometry Gravity Wave Observatory (LIGO) we can now "see" waves of gravity as they traverse the universe. Discover how this technology works, what we are learning from gravity waves, and what this entirely new way to study the universe means for us.

This virtual talk is free as part of the Sage Series but requires pre-registration in order to receive the webinar link. Registration closes on Wednesday, Feb. 17. To register, call Continuing Education at (630) 942-2208.
