The Addiction Inoculation: Raising Healthy Kids in a Culture of Dependence

Jessica Lahey, the author of the ground-breaking book “The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed,” was born into a family with a long history of alcoholism and drug abuse, and she dealt with personal struggles around substance abuse for many years. Noting that The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse has identified that teen drug addiction is the nation’s largest preventable health problem, Lahey was determined to devise and implement strategies to protect her two sons against her dangerous family addiction legacy.

Ms. Lahey’s presentation is a comprehensive guide that parents and educators can use to reduce the risk for substance abuse in children. Based on research in child welfare, psychology, substance abuse, and developmental neuroscience, here is an evidence-based strategy and the practical tools adults need to understand, support, and educate, to help mold resilient and addiction-resistant children.

Please join us for this empathetic, accessible discussion for anyone who plays a role is raising kids – allowing them to grow up healthy, happy, and addiction-free. Don’t miss this book launch special event for “The Addiction Inoculation: Raising Healthy Kids in a Culture of Dependence”.
