Family Day - Shapes and Colors

  • July 08, 2023
  • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Smart Museum of Art, The University of Chicago

Drop by the Smart Museum of Art and investigate how shapes and colors work together! During this Family Day, create colorful and strange-shaped paintings out of wooden panels. Make your own wildly shaped 3D painted sculpture or collaborate with other kids to build with Magna-Tiles. The activities are all inspired by the Wooster-shaped paintings and vibrant colors presented in our summer exhibition, Ted Stamm: In Transit.

Plus, from 2–3 pm, join our partners from the Chicago Public Library for a Destination Discover Story Time featuring books all about shapes and colors.

FREE, drop-in. Art-making supplies and other materials are provided. Family programs are best for kids 4–12, but all ages are welcomed! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
