Family Day: Making Mosaics

  • January 13, 2024
  • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Smart Museum of Art, The University of Chicago

WITH GUEST ARTIST MARIA VILLARREAL

Drop by the Smart Museum of Art and make your own incredible mosaic!

The afternoon activities are inspired by a Rampant Leopard on view in Calling on the Past. This fragment of a large tiled floor once graced an ancient villa in what is now Syria. Learn the art of mosaic making with guest artist Maria Villarreal, using real glass tiles to create a mosaic work you can take home to your own villa!

FREE, drop-in. Art-making supplies and other materials are provided. Family programs are best for kids 4–12, but all ages are welcomed! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
