NIU STEAM in Partnership with Midwest Dairy

Teenagers and young adults often drink Gatorade and similar recovery drinks after a workout. Join us to learn how and why something as simple as chocolate milk provides our bodies with the nutrients it needs after exercise.

This fast-paced, 60-minute webinar provides educators with tools and resources, including hands-on, low-prep lessons that work.

This lesson will:

  • Apply phenomena-based learning, experimental design and information literacy while it dives into the benefits of chocolate milk as an exercise recovery drink.

  • Empower students’ curiosity and engagement as they learn biology, chemistry and human physiology.

  • Demonstrate a direct link between macromolecules, feedback loops, metabolic energy and the nutrients that athletes consume.
