Complexity Between Giftedness, Mental Health, and Mental Illness Intersections: Parental Perspectives

  • October 27, 2026
  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Event Details: Join us this fall for a live-only 90-minute session hosted by SENG Past President Dr. Lin Lim for an intimate conversation with our guests: Harry Bruell, Jenny Bruell, & Cherin Escher.  When giftedness, mental health challenges, and mental illness intersect, parents can face urgent, bewildering questions: What does my child need now? Which needs arise from giftedness, and which may benefit from clinical support? How can parents prepare to respond appropriately when mental health concerns arise? Through candid parental narratives, this live, unrecorded SENG event explores these complex distinctions. Following a 30-minute presentation, participants are invited to discuss issues of mental health and giftedness with peers who have experienced similar parenting challenges.  Depending on attendance and participant needs, smaller breakout discussions may be offered.

Content notice: This session includes discussion of suicidality and suicide.
