Join us for short seminars that explore aspects of the ancient languages studied at the Oriental Institute. Learn interesting facts about Meroitic, ancient Egyptian, Samaritan, and more. From world experts, to the next generation, let us bring the cutting edge of contemporary scholarship on the ancient Middle East directly to your living room.

We will explore ancient languages Sundays in May, from 2–2:30 p.m. CST, starting on May 10th.

May 10: Foy Scalf, head of the OI research archives, discusses ancient Egyptian

May 17: Brian Muhs, associate professor of Egyptology, discusses Meroitic

May 24: Ella Karev, PhD student, discusses ancient Greek

May 31: Joey Cross, PhD student, discusses Phoenician, Biblical Hebrew, and Samaritan
