CGCC is partnering with Midwest Academy for Gifted Education (MAGE) to present this free series. This month:
Gifted 101: Is My Child Gifted?
In this session, learn about gifted child characteristics, identification, parenting challenges, educational dilemmas, and social and emotional needs. Learn what words like 2e, highly gifted, and academically talented really mean, and about the Dabrowski OEs. If you suspect that your child might be gifted, this workshop will give you the primer of how to find the answers that you are looking for, and how to best support your child in all facets of life, and a number of local in-person, online, and literary resources to support you in your journey. There is a free Experimental Outsider Math Class during this workshop as a trial, if your child enjoys math and meets the age criteria for the class.
Midwest Academy for Gifted Education and the Chicago Gifted Community Center are excited to bring you a Free Gifted Parenting Education Series, centrally located in the City of Chicago. The format of each event in the series is a 30-minute expert panel presentation on the topic, followed by 15 minutes of questions for the panelists and a 15 minutes to mingle. The idea is to bring together a parent of gifted child, a mental health professional, and a gifted educator, for different perspectives and ideas around solutions.
Registration is required for this free event. If you wish, a donation may be made during registration or in cash at the event to support CGCC. Or consider becoming a member . CGCC is a non-profit all-volunteer organization that relies on member dues to support events such as these for gifted children and their families. Annual membership is $25.
