  • 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, UIC

THURS September 11 | 10-5 PM
Parking lot directly south of the Residents' Dining Hall
800 S. Halsted Street

Calling all music lovers! The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a non-profit audio, video and broadcast studio that has offered free, hands-on learning since 1998, has come to Hull-House. The Bus will be open for free, public tours on Thursday from 10am - 5pm.

The Lennon Bus mentors young creators as it tours the U.S. and Canada for 10 months each year. Youth compose and create on the same equipment used by celebrated artists such as Yoko Ono, will.i.am, Tom Jones, Miguel, Natasha Bedingfield and actor Richard Dreyfuss as they learn from engineers who live and work aboard the mobile studio.

Just as the arts and music helped to foster social change at Hull-House, the bus allows us to provide media skills and tools to today's community organizers. While at Hull-House, the bus will invite participants from youth organizations to spend a full day developing an original project - creating music, video and images needed to take the idea from concept to delivery. Partners include The Chicago Track, a school for film and music sponsored by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, Free Spirit Media, and Young Chicago Authors; UIC's Immigrant Youth Justice League; and Donda's House, which offers arts instruction directed by Grammy-winning artist Che "Rhymefest" Smith.
