How the Civil War Impacted Chicago

  • April 12, 2015
  • 2:00 PM
  • Oak Park Public Library

Presented by The Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest

This week marks the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War.  The tremendous loss of life, the end of slavery, and the emergence of the modern nation state changed the United States forever.  But those years also had a great impact on Chicago--and Chicago changed greatly through and after  that conflict.  Loyola University professors Ted Karamanski and Eileen McMahon will tell that story based on their book "Civil War Chicago."

The free lecture begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12 in the Veterans Room at Oak Park Public Library, Lake and Grove
