"Tis no shame to be bad, because 'tis common."
We continue our Shakespeare's Contemporaries series with Thomas Middleton's violent, dark masterpiece, "The Revenger's Tragedy." A searing indictment of corruption, lust and excess in the vestiges of power, the play reflects King James I dissatisfaction with court corruption upon his ascension to the throne following the death of Elizabeth I. Peter Garino directs. Introduction by Regina Buccola, Associate Professor of English, Roosevelt University.
