ANNE HAYDEN STEVENS

Anne Hayden Stevens is a senior designer and STEAM coordinator at Northwestern University. She worked with the Center for Talent Development from 2009-2014 developing Arts integrated Design Studios for students in grades K through 12. She has a Masters in Design (Visual Studies) from UC Berkeley. She currently works on design & research interfaces for FUSE, a student-centered interest driven STEAM program reaching a broad regional and national audience.

STEM to STEAM: Teaching Innovation Through the Arts: We need more American youth to find their passions in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in order to keep pace with global development in industry and education. How can we encourage a broader range of creative students to fall in love with STEM topics and careers? STEAM, or the integration of Arts & STEM, explores the natural overlaps between creative performance and making practices in the ARTS with the rich content, research, and real-life problem solving in STEM. We will look at innovative STEAM design occurring in K-12 and at Northwestern, and talk about how STEAM experiences can support gifted students' interests and development.
