KIMBERLEE KING

Kimberlee King is a parent/life coach and educational consultant for families of gifted and twice-exceptional students. She is a lecturer on the needs and development of the gifted and learning disabled and/or emotionally challenged, commonly referred to as twice-exceptional. King is also a CTI trained life coach. She has served on the board of trustees of an independent school for gifted children. King’s specific area of concern is how the brain learns and processes information especially as it relates to diverse learners (AD/HD, dyslexia, giftedness, slow processing, learning disabilities, perfectionism and anxiety to name a few). This knowledge, coupled with her own experience with dyslexia, epilepsy and numerous medical challenges, has landed King in the unique position of being able to empathize deeply with families struggling to help their very bright child thrive in a world that was not designed with their processing styles in mind. King is the mother of four children who also are each uniquely gifted and challenged.

Parenting Twice-Exceptional Children: Parenting gifted children can baffle the most competent and loving parents. Add in AD/HD, anxiety, executive functioning disorders or sensory challenges (etc.), and a parent can end up feeling very lost and alone. After a brief synopsis of twice-exceptional children, King will share parenting strategies to help parents cope with the unique challenges twice-exceptional children present. The lecture will not only focus on research-based strategies to help children thrive, but on how we can help ourselves to grow into better parents. There will be time for questions, so come curious!
