A theatrical reading by the Shakespeare Project of Chicago

Free and open to the public; no tickets or registration required

Open to the Public

Adapted by Jeff Christian, 50-Minute Hamlet presents Shakespeare’s most enduring tragedy. Utilizing just two actors, Laura St. John and Christopher Prentice, 50 Minute Hamlet contains many of the Bard’s most famous lines and speeches while retaining much of his saga’s pathos, poetry, and passion. The Shakespeare Project of Chicago has presented it to numerous Chicago audiences since its premier in 2002. It has won the acclaim of adults, students, and teachers alike each time it has been presented.

This reading is part of programming related to the Newberry exhibition Creating Shakespeare, which runs from September 23 to December 31, 2016. The curators of the exhibition will lead guided tours before and after the performance. To join one, meet in the lobby at 9:15 or 11:30.
