About Chicago Northside Mini Maker Faire

ChicagoNorthside_MMF_logos_GooglePlusChicago Northside Mini Maker Faire is the first Maker Faire in the Chicagoland area.  We continue to be a local grassroots effort that reflects how our city’s youth define the Maker Movement.  In  2011, local lockpicker and mathematics educator Christina Pei teamed up with Schurz High School‘s Principal Dan Kramer to found this local celebration of the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) spirit. Chicago Northside Mini Maker Faire focuses on education–educators teaching educators, amateurs teaching professionals, students teaching families. Every year, roughly one half of the exhibits are run by Young Makers (ages 18 or younger), showcasing a broad range of talents, from 3D printing, to up-cycling, to aquaponics. Our other makers include sponsors who believe in democratic education, museums which invest in hands-on learning, hackerspaces and makerspaces that build awesome things, and local businesses at the forefront of the Maker Movement. On May 6, 2017 we present our SIXTH ANNUAL event. We anticipate 100+ makers and 2,000+ attendees. Come join the fun!
