To help your child build his or her strongest application for college, you must understand  -- well before your child starts applying! -- what selective colleges are looking for today.

Speaker:

Over the past few years alone,  Susan Goodkin has helped students get accepted to colleges including Harvard (3 early admits!), Yale (3), Stanford (6), MIT (2), CalTech (2), Princeton, Brown, U.Penn (6), Cornell (3), Duke (3), Columbia,  Dartmouth (2), U. Chicago (4), Berkeley (22), and UCLA (17), along with many other colleges across the country, ranging from small religious schools to large public universities.  Susan is a graduate of Harvard University, Harvard Law School, and Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.

This one-hour program will address today's critical college planning issues, including:

  • The increased importance of a great high school resume, and how to build the kind of extracurricular list selective colleges want to see -- without spending a fortune.

  • IB, AP, honors, oh my -- what classes your child should take.

  • The 411 on testing: PSAT, SAT, ACT, and SAT subject tests.

  •   The dreaded college application essay -- what colleges look for, and the topics your child shouldn't write about!
  • How the "why here" essay can make or break an application

  • The mistake too many students make when listing activities on college applications.

  •  Which teachers your child should ask for recommendations, and what they should -- and shouldn't -- say.

  • How your child should prepare for college interviews.

  •  Common concerns you should stop worrying about!

Plus, a question and answer session!

This program will be offered twice;

Sunday, April 23rd, at 1:00 PDT, 2:00 MDT, 3:00 CDT, 4 :00 EDT

and
