A Roundtable Discussion led by Catherine Gruener

Making Home A Haven For Your Gifted Child

September 28, 2017 - 7 PM – 8:30 PM

Buzz Cafe, 905 S Lombard Oak Park, IL

Let’s face it, fitting in at school when you are a gifted child can be challenging and can take a lot of effort. That makes it all the more important that home be your child’s haven.  That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have chores, that they should get to call the shots, that they should be waited on hand and foot.  But live is better for the whole family when home is a place everyone is at ease.  How do you construct such a haven for your family?  What can you all do at home that will ease the stress of life?

This roundtable will help you:

  • Develop some positive parenting strategies that help gifted children thrive
  • Build shared family values that can last a lifetime
  • Be a thoughtful rather than a reactive parent
  • Send a happy, balanced child out into the world on a daily basis

Catherine Gruener is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, certified Positive Discipline Educator and Trainer Candidate, with training in counseling gifted children from the Illinois Association for Gifted Children, and training in Parent Management techniques from the Yale Parent Center. She combines gifted research with her training in clinical and coaching parent programs, offering pragmatic and practical solutions for gifted parents. She is the author of “Parenting Young Gifted Children What to Expect when you Have the Unexpected,” has provided parent support, workshops, webinars, and trainings through local and national gifted organizations since 2009, and offers counseling, consultations, and trainings online and in-person through her business, Gruener Consulting. www.gruenerconsulting.com www.encouragementparenting.com
