‘Top Ten’ Tips for Reducing Performance Anxiety in Children and Teens

presented by Dr. Cathleen O'Hare

SERG Meeting

September 28th, 7:00 pm

at the District 205 office,

162 S. York, Elmhurst (Room 216)

Goals: To help parents and educators understand the whole-body effect of anxiety. To depict the relationship between negative automatic thoughts (NATs) and behavioral reactions to stress. To enlist adults in a team approach to identify in others, or for others, the thought processes which are not helpful to mood regulation. To teach adults to identify NATs and then use cognitive restructuring is an emphasis. Practical suggestions, DO’s and DO NOT’s, for making changes to behavioral patterns and for stopping the anxiety cycle will be presented.

Question & Answer/ Open Discussion is planned at end of presentation.

Address questions to PTA Council SERG Chair, Kristin Boxal, kristinboxall@msn.com
