Presentation and Roundtable Discussion
The Eyes Have It: Learning Problems Could Be In the Eyes!

led by Dr. Monica Spokas

hosted by:
    Vine Academy
    125 South Vine
    Hinsdale, IL 60521

Your child is so bright, and yet struggles in school?  Have you considered that she may be struggling with her eyesight?  Eighty percent of how the child learns in school is through vision. The way the eyes work together can affect a person’s ability to read, process and understand information. If any of the 17 visual skills (including aiming, tracking, focusing and scanning) are not functioning properly, it can have a tremendous impact on learning and make reading a significant challenge. Children with undiagnosed vision problems often develop behavior problems. Many will avoid reading and doing homework at any cost.

Come join the discussion and find out how to tell if a child’s vision may be a reason for academic and behavior challenges, and what can be done to correct it.

Dr. Monika Spokas is a developmental optometrist with a practice in Clarendon Hills.

Monika earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree as a cum laude graduate of the prestigious Illinois College of Optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry and of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
