If you are interested in the lines and shapes in the world around you, this is the class for you!  We will explore geometric ideas through stories, art, experiments, songs and games.

Some of the activities we will explore are:

 * Using geometry tools like compasses and protractors to create circles and angles.

*.Creating artwork on the Cartesian plane and with tessellations.

 * Learning basic polygons like heptagons and nonagons and shapes way beyond the everyday such as the stellated dodecagon.

 * Building models of platonic solids and mobius strips.

 * Discovering what happens when you slice up three-dimensional shapes made of clay.

 * Experimenting with a variety of building toys.

MIN/MAX: 3/7

$10.50 material fee

Note: Please inform teacher of any allergies as we may work with homemade clay or marshmallows for building.

TEACHER: Cecily Durbin really enjoys exploring ideas with young children.  She has worked at three Children's Museums including the Chicago Children's Museum, is a long time Girl Scout leader and once was a department store elf.  A long time ago she got a degree in Computer Science and had a job creating server software installations.
