Hamilton Succinct

Raise a glass to freedom!  Our kids’ version of Hamilton will feature the music you love from the Broadway show in age-appropriate proportions.

Participants in this moving, historical production will experience a flavor of everything the Theatre world has to offer:

  • creating sets & costume pieces
  • writing programs & designing flyers
  • being on the stage crew
  • singing, dancing, & acting.

There are 14 roles & an exceptionally active ensemble.  All students will be encouraged to participate in as many ways as they are comfortable, and will work together as a team to create a powerful performance showcasing the individual talents that comprise our cast.

Ages: Due to the mature content and difficulty level of the musical, this production is open to ages 9-17.  Anyone outside of that age range who would like to participate should contact the director, as such decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Advisory

This production welcomes students of all abilities whose needs we can effectively meet.  This production will feature:

  • 70 min. rehearsals
    • If length/attention span are concerns for your child, please notify the director before auditions and she will cast and structure rehearsals in such a way that your child can be successful & happy.
  • Sensory input including lighting, sound, body contact while dancing etc.
    • If your child is sensitive to sensory stimuli, please notify the director of specific concerns before auditions & she will cast your child in a role that will minimize sensory input as much as possible.
  • Emotionally Sensitive Content
    • If your child is sensitive to death, adultery, suicide, gun violence, or war, be aware that we will handle all these subjects delicately in an age-appropriate way, but we cannot totally omit them, nor change the plot of history.  Therefore, it may be advisable for you to preview the soundtrack to the musical before signing up your child.  Our version is abridged (leaving out anything really unnecessary or inappropriate) and our staging will be different from the adult version, but we can’t totally change the content.  Please come to the director with any specific concerns before beginning the process.

Mary graduated with a Masters in Teaching from National-Louis University, and has performed, written, and directed all around Chicagoland for over a decade.  Her last major position was a Drama Department Chair at Starland Inc. Cost:

  • $57 to cover printing & set, prop, & costume items
  • Costume pieces will be the responsibility of the cast, and may be found in thrift shops & Halloween stores etc.
