THIS CLASS WILL MEET VIA ZOOM ON MONDAYS AT 3:30. THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON 9/28.

Each week, students will get to meet (via Zoom) and talk with a scientist about their work and the science they work with. We'll cover a broad range of fields of science, so that kids can learn and get curious about lots of kinds of science.

The first 45 minutes of each class will be spent talking with the guest scientist. Rae will moderate, but the kids' questions will guide the discussion. Questions can be about anything the kids want - scientific details, what it's like working as a scientist, how the guest got interested in their field of study, what books they like to read - anything that comes to mind.

The last 15 minutes of each class will be spent getting ready for the next week's speaker. Rae will teach a short introductory lesson about the science that the next guest works with, so that the students have a basic understanding, to help them come up with interesting questions. The kids will have optional homework to learn more about that field of science.

Rae Goodman-Lucker is a science teacher. She has taught all ages, from preschool to medical school, and she has taught in school and for homeschool groups. Before she was a classroom teacher, she worked in biology research.
