Addressing the Unique Challenges of Diverse Gifted Learners

  • February 12, 2013
  • 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Online: SENGinar

High potential/gifted culturally diverse learners in America’s schools face unique challenges. Under-representation and underachievement of these students is a persistent and troubling problem. That’s why educators, families, and other stakeholders need to be aware of the systemic issues that perpetuate under-representation and related underachievement of many students of color and from low income environments, thus affecting their school performance and future outcomes. This webinar will review key points from research literature on identification and service delivery and discuss literature from multicultural education as well as gifted education. The goal is to will enable a broader understanding of the issues and solutions educators and families should consider to address the needs of these exceptional learners. Exemplary program models will also be shared to encourage replication in other locations.
