Coping with the emergence of a gifted child can be daunting.  Recognize, understand, and navigate around some common gifted behaviors.  What does "perfectionist" mean?  Why are disruptions to routine often difficult for gifted children?  Explore how creatively implementing a few simple coping strategies, early, will assist in bridging that gap often felt when asynchronous development is at play.  Discover how breaking a new task, into smaller parts, can often reduce anxieties and facilitate learning. There will be open discussion at the end of the presentation for parents to share their own personal struggles and solutions.

Presenter, Tara Lenga is an educator, presenter, writer and strategy consultant to all areas related to gifted children. She currently works extensively with exceptional children spanning the learning spectrum -- from learning disabilities to gifted.  For 20 years Tara Lenga has worked collaboratively with parents and educators devising coping strategies for her clients in both home and school environments.  Tara Lenga has been a guest speaker for the IAGC, Center for Talent Development, as well as the Center for Gifted, and has published various articles for the IAGC Journal.  Tara Lenga holds a BA in both Child Development and Psychology, is an Art Therapist and is a trained ABA therapist.
