I Need a Place Where I Belong: The Highly Gifted Child

Presenter: Ellen Honeck, PhD and Shannon Jones, PhD

Much has been written about meeting the needs of the gifted child in the regular classroom. Curriculum is differentiated, affective needs considered, and instructional strategies modified to meet the unique needs of the gifted learner. But, what about the highly gifted child in the gifted classroom? How can we best meet the needs of the highly gifted child within the context of a self-contained gifted classroom or program? This session will explore current research and practice regarding the highly gifted student. Case studies will be used to illustrate specific strategies and highlight exceptional materials. Both cognitive and social-emotional issues will be discussed.

Registration required, $40 fee which includes access to recorded SENGinar.
