Logan Center Family Saturday

 For November's Logan Center Family Saturday, bring your family to enjoy a selection of Chicago International Film Festival short films, "Topsy Turvy Tales," followed by free interactive arts workshops (for ages 2-14) with local artists, arts organizations, and student organizations.

 

 

FAMILY MATINEE FILM SCREENING

Cats meow and purr, baby chicks live in coops, hedgehogs live in the wild, and red and green blobby guys simply don’t exist—everybody knows that. But what happens when cats sing songs, baby chicks run free, hedgehogs live in the city, and red and green blobby guys do exist?!? Find out in this fun selection of short films.  Purchase tickets.

Nov 2 workshops focus on the theme of Family Trees: Celebrating Our Ancestors Through the Arts!

Families will learn engaging folk songs, expand their movement vocabulary, and play instruments in a high-energy environment filled with important lessons, moments to bond, and plenty of family fun! Pre-registration is recommended. Register now.

Arts and Crafts with ArtShould

All ages
Join us for family-friendly arts and crafts, facilitated by University of Chicago student artists. Drop in for a few minutes or stay the whole time. No registration.

Wacky animator and Facets teaching artist George Berlin teaches a hands-on immersion course in computer animation for tweens and their parents. Learn to develop, design, storyboard, and animate as a family! Pre-registration is recommended. Register now.

3:15–4:15 pm

Ages 9–11
“Kids Write It. We Do It. World Saved.” is the mantra of Chicago’s renowned arts education theater ensemble Barrel of Monkeys. This workshop includes games, group story writing, student performances, and creative writing time.  Pre-registration is recommended. Register now.

Through a series of colorful and creative games, children will learn the fundamentals of music theory, including reading simple rhythms, understanding the music staff, and singing the notes of the musical alphabet. Pre-registration is recommended. Register now.

Harambee, or "Let's Pull Together", is the idea behind this drum workshop by Kwame Steve Cobb. Kwame is a veteran of modern drumming and West African percussion. Listen and learn how to make sounds that pay homage to ancestors through rhythms played on the djembe drums. Pre-registration is recommended. Register now.
